Day 2

Erfoud – Rissani – Kasbahs – Merzouga

In the morning, we will explore the town of Erfoud, renowned for its fossil workshops and craftsmanship. We will then head to Rissani, the first capital of the ancient caravan route from Morocco to Timbuktu. There, we will walk through what is considered the most authentic and traditional souk in Morocco, and the largest in the southern region, where all kinds of handicrafts, food, and livestock are traded.

For lunch, we will taste the famous Madfouna (Berber stuffed pizza). If time allows, we will explore some kasbahs in the area. We’ll then continue to the captivating dunes of Erg Chebbi—an incredibly beautiful sea of golden sand, also known as the Merzouga Dunes. Dinner and overnight in a local auberge (desert inn).

Day 3

Merzouga Sightseeing – Nomads – Camel Trekking (Desert Camp)

In the morning, we will visit the village of Khamlia, famous for its Gnaoua music, which has roots in the deep traditions of sub-Saharan Africa. We will then explore some abandoned mines and share a cup of mint tea with Berber nomads in a palm grove oasis.

Next, we will drive through the black desert (Hamada), a rocky and arid landscape once crossed by the legendary Paris-Dakar Rally. In the afternoon, we will return to the dunes of Merzouga, where you will ride camels to reach a desert camp located in the heart of the Sahara.

This experience offers a perfect opportunity to capture stunning photos of the sunset and sunrise. At night, you’ll enjoy traditional music under a starry sky and discover the magic of the Sahara’s vast, open landscapes. We’ll spend the night in nomadic-style Berber tents.

Day 4

Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges

If you wake up early, you’ll have the chance to witness a spectacular sunrise, as the colors of the dunes and the play of shadows create a breathtaking scene. After breakfast, we will begin our journey toward the Todra Gorges, where we’ll take a walk through the impressive canyon and enjoy the stunning views of the towering cliffs.

We will then continue through scenic Berber villages and palm groves, stopping along the way for lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we’ll pass through the town of Boumalne Dades and head into the Dades Gorges, where our day ends in a charming hotel.

Day 5

Dades Gorges – Valley of the Roses – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

After breakfast, we will drive through the Valley of the Roses in Kelaa Mgouna, where fragrant roses bloom along the hedgerows during April and May — a perfect time to buy a bouquet or rose-based products. We then continue to Ouarzazate, known for its film studios that have hosted many international productions, earning it the nickname “Hollywood of Morocco.”

Next, we follow the scenic route through the Ounila Valley. About 40 km before reaching the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, we’ll visit the Kasbah of Telouet — once an important stop along the ancient caravan route from the Sahara across the Atlas Mountains to Marrakech.

It was also the seat of the powerful El Glaoui family, who were granted political control of southern Morocco by King Moulay Hassan. At their peak, the Glaoui were nearly as influential as the Sultan himself. Though the palace is now crumbling, it is still open to visitors and partial restoration work began in 2010.

If our journey coincides with a Thursday, we will stop at a traditional souk in a village in the Atlas Mountains. Lunch will be enjoyed in the mountains before crossing the Tizi-n-Tichka pass once again on our way to Marrakech, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening.
This Will be the end of our services. End of the 5-day tour from Errachidia.
