Day 1
Arrival to Fez, guided tour sightseeing
The 10-day Morocco itinerary starts with a pick-up from the airport or your accommodation in Fes. We will then dedicate the day to exploring the highlights of Fes with a local guide. The city is considered one of Morocco’s imperial cities, as well as its cultural and religious center.
First, we will start the day by visiting the Royal Palace gate. Then, we will explore the well-preserved medieval Medina, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will visit the Blue Gate, or Bab Boujloud, which is the entrance to the old Medina.
You will enter the Medina to visit the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Nejjarine Fountain, and the Tanneries. Finally, you will visit the Al Quaraouine Mosque and University, the oldest university in the world. After that, we will leave the Medina to visit the Jewish quarter, also known as “the Mellah.” In the afternoon, we will drive to an ancient fortress to enjoy panoramic views of the Medina and the city of Fes. Finally, you will return to your Riad.
Day 2
Fez– Ifrane – Cedars forest- Midelt – Ziz valley – Merzouga Sahara
After breakfast, we drive south through Imouzzer to visit Ifrane. The city is famous for its low temperature, snow and the alpine-style architecture houses (no wonder it is called the “Switzerland of Morocco”).
Then we continue to cedars forest, where the Barbary macaques live. Feel free to feed them, while wandering in the forest. Later, we continue to Midelt, where we will have a free time for lunch. Then we drive to Merzouga through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and along the Ziz valley. Stops will be made along the way for panoramic views.
In the afternoon, we arrive at the Merzouga Sahara Desert. Then, you will ride camels and cross the sandy desert. We will make a stop on top of a high dune to enjoy the sunset. Finally, you will continue to the desert camp.
The camp is a combination of traditional nomad tents and the elegance of a hotel. Here, you can enjoy Berber drum music while dancing around the campfire under a vast open sky filled with stars. You will have dinner and an overnight stay at the camp.
Day 3
Explore Merzouga region – Nomads – Khamlia – Merzouga lake – Erg Chebbi – palm grove
Wake up early in the morning is a must do, in order to contemplate the beautiful sunrise, in the middle of the desert. You will have free time for breakfast. Then we return on camels to Merzouga, where the driver awaits. We dedicate the day to explore the region of Merzouga. The area has so many incredible sites, from sand dunes, wild lake, mines, fossils areas to fabulous oases. Which are ideal places for so many outdoor activities.
Firstly, we start our journey in Merzouga by driving off-road to visit an ancient eyeliner mine. Then, we visit nomads in their handmade woven tents and learn about their way of life while enjoying Berber tea. Our next destination is the village of Khamlia, where you will enjoy Gnaoua music and dance performances. Its inhabitants originate from sub-Saharan countries such as Mali, Sudan, and Niger.
You will have free time for lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards, we take a stroll through a palm grove. Then, we drive a few kilometers to see the wild Merzouga lake, also known as Flamingo Lake. You will have dinner and overnight stay at a Riad/hotel.
Day 4
Merzouga Sahara – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
After breakfast, we leave the desert to visit Rissani town, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Rissani still a major trading center in the area, with a large souk lively on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
After a stroll through the Rissani souk, we continue to Erfoud to visit a fossilized marble workshop. Then we drive through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad until we reach the Todra Gorges.
The Todra River has carved out a stunning canyon in the mountains, with high red cliffs on both sides. These gorges are a great spot for rock climbers. Feel free to walk around and enjoy the beautiful scenery. You’ll have free time for lunch at a restaurant.
Then we continue to the Dades Valley, passing through Boumalne Dades. We will make essential stops at the “Monkey Fingers” rock formations and at a viewpoint atop a mountain overlooking the Dades Valley. Finally, you will have a dinner and overnight stay at a Riad/hotel.
Day 5
Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Palm Groves of Skoura – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah- High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
Having finished breakfast, we continue our trip to Kalaa Magouna to visit the Rose Valley. Every May, a Rose Festival is held there, where locals offer a variety of rose products—from perfumes and rose water to oils and cosmetics.
Then, we will drive through the palm groves of Skoura. Later, we will arrive in Ouarzazate, also known as the gateway to the desert. We will visit the studios where famous movies were filmed.
We depart to visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Kasbah has also appeared in many movies, including Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, and TV series like Game of Thrones.
Then, we continue to Marrakech, driving through the Tizi-N-Tichka pass and the High Atlas Mountains. We will make stops for lunch and to take pictures at interesting spots. Later, we will spend the night at a riad in Marrakech.
Day 6
Guided tour sightseeing Marrakech
After breakfast, we will explore the highlights of Marrakech with a local guide. The city is considered one of the four imperial cities of Morocco. The tour includes the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, and the Ben Youssef Quranic Mosque, as well as a stroll through the largest traditional souk in Morocco. You will have free time for lunch near Jemaa El-Fna Square.
Later, you will visit the Koutoubia Mosque, the largest in Marrakech, and the Majorelle Garden. Finally, you will be transferred to your accommodation. Feel free to wander around Jemaa El-Fna on your own.
Day 7
Marrakech – Esauira
Once we’ve had breakfast, we drive west to the city of Essaouira. On the way, we will make stops to see the goats climbing the argan trees and to enjoy panoramic views. We arrive in Essaouira, formerly known as Mogador, one of the most important coastal cities in Morocco.
The city is famous for its variety of seafood, beautiful beaches, and surfing. We will visit the fishing port, the ancient ramparts with their cannons, and the old medina. Finally, you will be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay in Essaouira.
Day 8
Essaouira – Casablanca – Rabat
Once breakfast is finished, the 10-day Morocco itinerary continues to Casablanca. We depart from Essaouira and drive along the coastline to reach Casablanca, the economic center of Morocco.
There, we will visit the Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque in the country, as well as the Casablanca Corniche. You will have free time for lunch. Afterwards, we drive to Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Overnight stay in Rabat.
Día 9
Sightseeing Rabat the capital – Chefchaouen
After breakfast, we explore Rabat, one of Morocco’s imperial cities and the current capital. It is located in the northwest of the country, on the Atlantic coast. You will visit the city’s highlights, including the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of Oudaya.
There will be free time for lunch. In the afternoon, we head north through Ouazzane to reach the Blue City of Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains. The city is famous for its buildings and alleyways painted in blue. Overnight stay at a hotel.
Day 10
Chefchaouen – Tangier airport
On the last day of your 10-day Morocco itinerary (depending on your flight time) you will have free time to stroll through the beautiful alleyways of the Blue City. Then, we drive through the Rif Mountains to reach Tangier.
Finally, we will drop you off at the airport, marking the end of an unforgettable journey through Morocco.
