Day 3: Merzouga desert

The meeting point with the camel guides and the camels leads mainly through El Hamada (stony black desert). Each participant, with an assigned camel, begins in the Méharée. Mountain chains on the left and on the right, stone deserts, sandy rivers, green tamarisks and acacias mark the image on the way to the camp in the small dunes. Dinner and overnight at the El Méharée store. The chains of hills limit the horizon. The bed of the Oued or dry river is impregnated with tamarisks and acacias. Small wandering ditches push through the bushes. Dinner and accommodation in a store. After breakfast and from the great plain, we will reach the desert city of Tafraout. After a two-hour ascent, you will have a wonderful view of the desert landscape. Descent to the camp near the dunes, which cross a small valley and a large rocky plain that flows into Oued Rheris. In Oued Rheris, there are several nomadic families who spend the winter with their camels and goats. We will make small hiking trails through the riverbed and then return to the dune camp. Alternatively, through the desert of sand and stone you will walk towards the dunes of Oussina, almost orange, depending on the light. Dinner and overnight at the camp. Our Méharée continues along desert landscapes, Hamadas, small sand dunes and calm. Just a few kilometers after crossing the Ziz River, which is almost dry, the fascinating dunes of Erg Chebbi appear, the beautiful expanse of undulating dunes, also known as the Merzouga Dunes. Here our trip will end at the edge of the sand dunes. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

And they always impress the rich colors of the earth, the green tones in the fields and the red walls of the residential castles. Dinner and accommodation in a charming hotel in the Gorges of Dades.
