Feel the Moroccan contrasts with this trip full of activities and attractions. Starting from the Red City (Marrakech), you will visit mosques, discover ancient cities (Medina), Fez and other ancient cities.

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech

Pick-up on arrival in Marrakech and transfer to the medina (old walled city). We will spend the night in a Riad in the medina of Marrakech.

Day 2: Marrakech city tour with local guide

The city tour includes the following key sites, if time permits, based on a half-day or full-day excursion: souks, Jewish quarter, Bahia Palace, minaret and gardens of the Koutoubia, Saadian tombs, school Koranic Ben Youssef, apothecary (Berber pharmacy of spices, herbs and oils) and Majorelle Gardens with a beautiful museum of Amazigh costumes and jewels (Berber). Half day free to enjoy the night in Jamaa el Fna square. Accommodation in the Riad.

Day 3: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Gorges of the Dades

At 8 in the morning we will meet at your Riad or hotel and drive over the port of Tizi n’Tichka (2,260 m above sea level), the highest mountain pass in Morocco. We will have time to stop and enjoy breathtaking scenery, have a freshly squeezed coffee and orange juice while enjoying magnificent views of the mountains and Berber villages. We will take a guided tour of Ait Benhaddou, a World Heritage Site, one of the most spectacular ksours (fortified villages) in Morocco that was once on the route of the Transaharian caravans while crossing the Atlas towards the fondouks of Marrakech. (This famous Kasbah was used as a backdrop for more than 20 movies). We will pass through the city of Ouarzazate and continue towards the Valley of the Roses (where the roses bloom in April and May), the Skoura Palm Grove with its authentic Kasbah of the s. XVII, the valley of a thousand Kasbahs and the Dades gorge. Dinner and accommodation in a charming traditional hotel.

Day 4: Gorges of the Dades – Gargangas del Todra – Merzouga

Departure in the morning towards the Sahara Desert (Merzouga) through the Todra Gorges, where you can take a walk to explore these magnificent and narrow gorges where vertiginous cliffs of pink ocher frame a crystalline and fresh river. Then we will go to Erfoud through the palm grove of Touroug, where we will stop to eat. Then we will arrive in the city of Erfoud to visit a local fossil craft workshop. Continuing with the fascinating dunes of Erg Chebbi, an incredibly beautiful expanse of undulating dunes, also known as the Merzouga Dunes. Dinner and overnight at the Auberge (desert inn).

Day 5: Merzouga – Rissani – Nomads – Desert tour

In the morning we will visit the town of Khamlia, famous for its Gnawa music; originally from the great African Sahara. We will visit some desert mines and share a mint tea with Berber nomads in an oasis of palm trees. We will drive through the black desert (Hamada) and along the roads of the DAKAR Rally. Then we will go to Rissani, where you can walk through the most authentic and traditional souk in Morocco, and the largest in southern Morocco. It is sold with all kinds of crafts, food and animals. Market days are Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. We will eat madfouna (Berber stuffed pizza) at a local family home. We will return to the dunes of Merzouga in the afternoon, where we will ride camels to spend the night in a camp equipped with music in the middle of the Sahara. Great opportunity to make beautiful pictures of sunset and sunrise. At this time, we will explore the secrets of the Sahara and its unlimited horizons. We will spend the night in nomadic Berber tents.

Day 6: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Azrou – Ifrane – Fez

If you get up early enough, you will see the spectacular sunrise, when the color of the dunes and the shape of the shadows combine in an incredible view. We continue our itinerary to the Ziz Valley with its panoramic views of palm trees and gorges. We will stop to eat and take pictures of wild monkeys in the cedar forests of Azrou. Our last stop will be in Ifrane (Switzerland of Morocco) to have a drink, for example a freshly squeezed fresh orange juice. Our long trip will end in Fez. We will spend the night in a Riad in the old Medina of Fez.

Day 7: Fes city tour with local guide

In the morning guided tour of Fez to explore the Medina (old walled city). Our visit will include, if time permits: Medersa (Koranic school), Attarin or Bou-Inania. Quaraouiyine Mosque, founded by Fatima Bint al-Fihria in the ninth century AD. C. Fountain and museum of Nejjarine. Bab Boujloud, the blue and green door. Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss II. Day 8: Fez – Volubilis – Meknes – Rabat

After breakfast, transfer to the Roman ruins of Volubilis (free time to walk or take a guided tour). We will pass through Meknes to explore the high lights of this ancient imperial city. Time to eat. Then we will drive along the highway to reach Rabat (capital of Morocco) and visit the key sites, including the Kasbah Oudayas, Hassan Tower and the Chellah necropolis. We will spend the night in a Riad in the Medina of Rabat.

Day 9: Rabat – Casablanca – Marrakech

Breakfast at the Riad and then transfer to Marrakech on the highway with the option of diverting to visit the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca. We will spend the night in a Riad in Marrakech.
